St. Vladimir’s Ukrainian Orthodox Congregation – Calgary

Where there is a will, there is a way!

In the late 1920’s a group of similarly minded Ukrainian Calgarians envisioned a time where there would be one Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Calgary, working together to find ways and means to make this happen.  The visiting clergy of the UOCC  preached messages such as “I can do all things through Him who strengthens me.” (Philippians 4:13 NASB)  Hearing that God wants His people to be confident in the truth that, through Him, all things are possible, the Calgary community knew that every passing day was full of choices and opportunity. They could focus on the obstacles before them, or …be confident in the truth of God strength acting through their life choices.

Since that period in history, UWAC and the founding visionaries of our local church have worked collaboratively, each within our prescribed spheres of influence to ensure the welfare of the church, it’s people, and the community we collectively serve.

St.Vladimir’s is UWAC Calgary’s home.

For a history of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of Canada:

Proverbs 3:5-7 says, “Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight” (NIV).
